Everyone has a story to tell. What if you could tell your story and watch it come to life before your eyes? Now adapted for Zoom!

We are inside of a collective moment of anxiety, isolation, struggle, and transformation. In the face of this, we believe the Chicago Playback Theatre Ensemble can continue to cultivate empathy, community, and solidarity through storytelling.

In Playback Theatre, actors guide audience members in sharing their own memories and experiences which are then brought to life by the actors using improv, movement, and music- only this time, our stage will be virtual using Zoom! Tell us your own story, or simply simply join us and experience the community that comes with gathering to share stories.

Unlike other improv you might see in Chicago, Playback is not focused just on comedy. Audience experiences of any kind, from the profound to the ordinary, from the joyful to the sorrowful, are worthy of attention, respect, and a voice with CPTE. This show will run about an hour and 15 minutes long, and shows are always as unique as the audience that attends. The Chicago Playback Theatre Ensemble is a new company that believes that sharing audience stories builds community, strengthens empathy, and ignites dialogue, and CPTE is the only ensemble in Chicago currently using Playback Theatre to perform audience stories.
